Our Venues

TriCon is held at a historic waterfront hotel in Halifax’s vibrant Seaport District, The Westin Nova Scotian, which offers panoramic views of Halifax Harbour and on-site dining at Seaport Social. Its downtown location means you’re well placed to discover nightlife as well as the beautiful waterfront. It’s also easily accessible to Metro transit for further adventures in the city.

Additional TriCon programming will be hosted at the NSCAD University Port Campus, with special events held at the Writers Federation of Nova Scotia and Tident Cafe & Booksellers on Hollis Street. Our venues form a ring around Pier 21, one of the oldest seaports in the nation, and the location of the Canada Museum of Immigration.

A Participatory Ethos!

The communal nature of TriCon is key. We are proud to be offering a diverse slate of panels, workshops, readings and other exciting events that are suggested and helmed by the attendees themselves. Our goal is to dig deep into big, weird questions about the past, present and future of the Speculative Fiction Industry… while having a bit of fun on the way.

Indie Pop Up!

Trident Booksellers & Cafe will be hosting an Indie Pop-up throughout the conference, both in the vendor hall and in the Trident Cafe at 1256 Hollis St.

This will be a full “bookstore” for Indies ONLY, and can include your merch. Participating authors will also be invited to have signings in the Pop-Up.

Our Host

Est. 1992, Trident Booksellers & Cafe, owned and operated by TriCon chair Charlotte Ashley, is a coffeehouse, tea house, specialty coffee roaster, and used bookstore located at 1256 Hollis Street. Located just around the corner from the Westin, The Trident will be a cozy meeting spot throughout the conference.
