Mission Statement
TriCon is Atlantic Canada’s literary conference for speculative fiction. TriCon 2026 will be held May 15th-17th, 2026 in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia.
TriCon is a professional writing, editing and publishing event aimed at writers of fantasy, science fiction, horror and other speculative genres. The conference aims to support and grow the local creative industry.
TriCon invites writers to participate in three days of panels, workshops, lectures, and readings designed to help develop, nurture, and inspire their writing and publishing careers. TriCon combines the geeky fun of a traditional SFF convention with a focus on providing space, resources, and tools for writers at all stages of their careers, including the chance to connect with our world-class Author, Agent, and Editor Guests of Honour!
TriCon is committed to providing a fun, safe, and accessible space for all attendees, prioritizing inclusive programming for under-represented/equity-deserving groups, opportunities for participation from attendees, and strong enforcement of our safety and conduct policies. We value strong networks and a communicative community.
“If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.” – Carl Sagan
Land Acknowledgement
TriCon will be held in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land.
This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Mi’kmaq, Wəlastəkwewiyik (Maliseet), and Passamaquoddy peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lnds and resources, but recognized Mi’kmaq and Wəlastəkwewiyik title, and established rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
We would also like to recognize that Mi’kma’ki is home to over 50 African Nova Scotian communities whose culture, heritage, and histories have been and remain a key part of this province for more than 400 years.
We are all Treaty people.
